Levels of Evaluation
As an experienced Instructional designer the Kirkpatrick Model is a valuable framework I use to evaluating training. It begins with Level 1, which focuses on learner reactions, ensuring the training is engaging and relevant through post-training surveys. Moving to Level 2, we assess whether participants gained the intended knowledge and skills, often using pre- and post-learning assessments. Level 3 looks at whether learners apply what they’ve learned in the workplace, highlighting behavioral changes. Finally, Level 4 measures the impact on organizational outcomes, linking the training to business goals like KPIs. Below are demontrations of Level 1 and 2 training assessments.
